Dave joined Brass 5 in 2022 following his distinguished 32-year career serving as Director of The Marching Virginians at Virginia Tech. He most recently served as director of the Blacksburg Community Band for five years following retirement and now enjoys playing percussion with Brass 5, Island Music Trio, and Off Our Rockers. McKee remains an active advocate for music educators and their students. In 2017, he received the Shenandoah University Distinguished Alumnus Award for Lifetime Achievement. Dave and his wife, Charlotte, celebrate nearly fifty years of marriage and are the proud parents of three adult children and three grandchildren.
